The device is compatible with OBD2 gasoline cars (1998 and newer in the USA) and EOBD cars (European cars, gasoline cars from 2001). It uses Bluetooth connection, with no need for batteries, cables, or switches. The wireless (Bluetooth) range is 5 to 10 meters.
Please note the following: 1. Not compatible with iOS systems (cannot be used with iPhone/iPad). 2. Not for diesel, new energy (including hybrid & electric), or modified vehicles. 3. For your vehicle to be OBD II compliant, it must have a 16-pin DLC (Data Link Connector) under the dash, and the Vehicle Emission Control Information Label must state that the vehicle is OBD II compliant.
The device is mainly used with Android phones and tablets, but it can also be used with Symbian phones and Windows PCs. After successfully connecting the device to the OBDII port, you will need to download a third-party OBDII app on your phone or tablet, such as Torque Pro, Torque Lite (free), or OBD Car Doctor (free), available on Google Play. Alternatively, there are various apps and installation instructions provided on the CD. However, some apps require payment.
To use the device, simply plug it into your car's OBD2 port, start the car, enable Bluetooth on your Android phone or tablet, search for "OBDII" and pair it (pin 1234), then run the downloaded app with simple settings and wait until it connects to your car's ECU successfully. If you use the same OBD device on two or more cars, you will need to disconnect the Bluetooth and close the app when finished testing one car, and then re-pair the Bluetooth when you insert the OBD into another car.
